YPSILANTI, Mich. (WXYZ) - Eastern Michigan University has issued a crime alert after a rape was reported in the area of Emmet and Ballard Streets in Ypsilanti, just off the campus of EMU.
The assault actually happened July 30th, but wasn't reported until August 12th.
The victim was not a student, but rather a woman who had been approached by a man as she walked the neighborhood. As a ruse, the man supposedly asked her if he could use her cell phone before raping her.

Police are asking that you watch out for a black male in his late 20s about 5'11" in height. He is described as bald, clean shaven, with an athletic build.
If you have information, please call the Ypsilanti Police at: 734-483-9510.
