Fiat to offer in-car espresso maker

(WXYZ) - Fiat is giving a whole new meaning to coffee-on-the-go.
The Italian automaker will be offering an in-car espresso maker option in its new Fiat 500L.
The espresso machine, which will come with matching cups, is being made for Fiat by Italian coffee importer Lavazza.
Here's how it will work. A so-called brewing flask will plug into its own power source located between the front seats in the center console. The device will boil water, infuse the coffee grounds, and in a few moments a hot cup of joe is created.
Fiat is the first automaker to offer a coffee maker accessory.
The Fiat 500L goes on sale in Italy in October, and the rest of Europe shortly after.
The Fiat vehicle is expected to hit U.S. soil sometime in 2013, but don't expect the espresso option to be offered in the states.
With all the concerns over distracted driving, it's unlikely the Italian automaker will bring the coffee-on-the-go perk to American roads.
