(MELVINDALE, Mich.) - A fire has forced dozens of people to evacuate from the Marathon plant in Melvindale.

It's not clear how the fire started or the extent of the damage but it began around 6:30 according to a Marathon spokesperson.

We're told one person received what are being described as minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The fire was quickly extinguished, according to 7 Action News crews on the scene, and workers were allowed to return to the scene.

People working at businesses say the evacuation had them concerned about what could happen if a major catastrophe hits the plant.
