WXYZ-TV - An apartment building fire in Frenchtown Township has claimed the life of a 75 year old woman.
The Monroe County Fire Investigation team is looking into the cause of the fire that killed Bea M. Hankey Tuesday morning around 11:25am.
The fire overtook her 7th floor apartment at the Frenchtown Place Apartments at 1201 N. Macomb Street. When the fire department got there, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the building and everyone was evacuated.
Investigators do not suspect any foul play.
There was plenty of assistance on scene to fight this fire with the Monroe County Sheriff's department and the Frenchtown Township Department , including the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, the Fire and Police Departments from the city of Monroe, the London Maybee Raisinville Volunteer Fire Department, the Monroe Community Ambulance Service, and the Michigan State Police.
