(WXYZ) - Dozens of kids spent Tuesday evening "Shopping with a Hero." Meijer hosted the event at its Warren location on Mound Road.

The kids were able to pick out all kinds of gifts for family and friends with members of the city's fire department in tow.

Every year, Meijer hosts hundreds of these events to help underprivileged families by donating tens of thousands of dollars in gift cards.

Also in Chesterfield Township Tuesday night, 200 kids had the opportunity to shop with cops. The “Shop with a Cop” event is hosted by the Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge 112.

Each child gets $100 and a police officer to help them find the perfect gift.
