(WXYZ) - Walking into Yoz Yogurt in West Bloomfield, it’s hard to think anything but happy thoughts.
I mean, there is such a selection of delicious treats: ice cream, yogurt-covered raisins, chocolate chip cookie dough, and yogurt in any flavor you like.
For 24 years, Sonny Modiano and his wife Suzy have served the people of West Bloomfield with their two stores, smiling all the way.
That’s until the day one of their hometown police officers, Officer Patrick O’Rourke, was shot to death.
Consumed with empathy for Officer O’Rourke’s wife and four children, Sonny and Suzy decided to do something to help.
The pair plans to hold a fundraiser at Yoz Yogurt on Wednesday, October 3 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
That day, 100-percent of all sales at both stores will go to help Officer O’Rourke’s family.
The fundraisers will be held at two different locations. One at the Yoz Yogurt at the corner of Orchard Lake Road and Lone Pine Road and the other at the Yoz Yogurt at Simsbury Shopping Center at the corner of Farmington Road and Fourteen Mile.
Officer O’Rourke’s wife Amy has a whole new world of challenges to face now.
Sonny and Suzy just hope to raise enough money to make the financial challenges a little less of a burden.
