DETROIT (WXYZ) - Gas prices are heating up in metro Detroit just as many Michigan residents hit the road for vacation.
According to detroitgasprices.com , gas prices in metro Detroit rose by more than 28 cents within the past week.
Detroiters are paying an average of $4.03 at the pump, just in time for the last leg of summer vacation.
A petroleum analyst at detroitgasprices.com blames the increase on pipeline and refinery issues in the Great Lakes. While the entire country saw an increase, it was nothing like the spike felt by those in the Great Lakes region.
We at WXYZ hope you're not letting the spike at the pump put a damper on your vacation plans, whether you're going on a road trip or enjoying a simple "stay-cation."
Tell us: What are you doing to save at the pump? Have you resorted to joining a carpool or biking instead of hopping in your car solo? Are you taking public transportation or simply not going out as much?
Sound off on our Facebook page or tweet us and tell us how you're coping.
