(WXYZ) - The government is issuing a new alert about giving your dog jerky treats imported from China that could be deadly.
The treats are suspected of killing nearly 600 dogs and sickening about 3,000 others since 2007. The FDA is investigating to determine which treats are to blame.
Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea. The outbreak is linked to different kinds of jerky from China, but chicken seems to be the most common.
If you've given them to your dog and see symptoms, take your pet to the vet along with the treats for possible testing to help solve the mystery of what's causing the illness.
