(WXYZ) - There were some tense moments on Detroit's east side Thursday night after a routine traffic stop.
Michigan State Police were in the process of pulling over a rental car when the driver and passenger hopped out and fled the scene.
Officers were able to apprehend the driver, according to police. We're told the passenger dumped his bullet proof vest and his gun and ran into a Detroit neighborhood near 7 Mile and Hoover.
Police have removed the road blockades around the area. The suspect remains on the loose.
