HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Action News is learning more information about the man accused of criminal sexual conduct involving a student at Harper Woods High School.

Harper Woods School District Superintendant Todd Biederwolf says the man arrested on Wednesday is a “security liaison” worker, employed by Edustaff, a company that provides workers for the school. The man has worked in the school district for about two years in different positions.

Harper Woods Acting Police Chief Jim Burke added that the man is in his 30s. Chief Burke said he would not be releasing the accused man’s name until he is arraigned. That is expected to happen Friday or Monday.

While the school worker has not been officially charged, police say they arrested him for 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct. The victim is a student at the school, where the crime allegedly happened.

“We became aware of the alleged incident this week, and immediately began investigating,” said Burke.

Police say they searched the man’s house and his office at the school. They are not releasing details about evidence gathered, but say they did check out the man’s computers.

Parents say they are frustrated with the small amount of information available, but school leaders say they are saying little in an effort to protect the police investigation.

Police say often in these cases they later learn there are multiple victims. They are urging any student who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

“We want to make sure our investigation is tight, and that there are no other victims out there,” said Burke.

The school district says counselors are available if needed.
