(WXYZ) - Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes. That's why it's so important to get your kids checked out.

We're proud to partner with Beaumont Hospital for the "Health Heart Check." Free heart screenings will be offered to area high school students.

The next event is scheduled at D1 Detroit , a custom sports training facility sponsored by Beaumont orthopedic sports medicine specialists. The “Healthy Heart Check” screening is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

D1 Sports Training is located at 799 Denison Court in Bloomfield Hills.

The heart screening includes a check on blood pressure and an ECG or electrocardiogram. Echocardiograms will be provided if needed based on ECG results.

Registration is required.

Call toll-free 1-800-328-8542 or visit heart.beaumont.edu/upcoming-student-heart-screenings  to register online.
