Is there lead in your lipstick?

(WXYZ) - Ladies before you put on that lipstick, you may want to do a little research.

The FDA found that 400 types of lipstick on the market test positive for lead.

Now before you shun your lipstick forever, be aware that in a statement posted on the FDA website, officials say their results “do not show levels of lead in lipstick that would pose a safety concern.“

That’s because lipstick isn’t ingested, instead it’s just absorbed in small amounts through the skin.

But out of those 400, the worst offender was Maybelline Color Sensation. It tested positive for 275 times the amount of lead as you’d find in the least-contaminated brand.

Also the cheapest, Wet & Wild Mega Mixers lipstick had the least amount of lead.
