Want to kick that unhealthy smoking habit? Free nicotine replacement products are being offered to help you quit.
The Michigan Tobacco Quit Line is now offering free nicotine patches, gum or lozenges for those who want to become smoke-free.
All you have to do is call the Quit Line at 1-800-784-8669 to receive an eight-week supply of the patches, gum or lozenges. The offer is available until September 30 or until supplies run out.
Callers must be 18 or older and will need to enroll in quit smoking coaching services as well. Each caller will receive a personal coach to help them design a quit plan.
The Quit Line is available everyday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
"Callers using nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) along with proactive counseling, such as a telephone-based service like 1-800-QUIT-NOW, can increase their chances of becoming smoke-free by five times the rate of someone quitting cold turkey," said Dr. Dean Sienko, Interim Chief Medical Executive for Michigan Department of Community Health. “By offering these free NRT products, we hope more Michiganders can experience the many health benefits of becoming smoke-free.”
