(Southfield - WXYZ) - Does it make financial sense for dad to stay home with the kids? More and more often the answer is yes.
Researchers say the changing economy is changing families. Daycare costs continue to increase, and often paychecks decrease.
As a result more and more dads are staying home with the kids, at least some times.
Researchers looked at census data and discovered 32% of men with children under 15 years old and with a working wife stayed home at least one day a week in 2010.
That is an increase from 2002 when the number was 26% of men.
Researchers say even though on average men make more money than women, a growing number of women are making more than their husbands. As a result sometimes it makes more economic sense for a man to spend more time at home while his wife works.
