(WXYZ) - Home Depot says they expect to hire 1,500 people for seasonal jobs in the Detroit area this spring.

The move comes as the company says they expect to hire 80,000 seasonal workers across the country in the coming months. The company says that's a 14 percent increase over the number of seasonal workers they hired last year.

Home Depot says many of those seasonal hires turned into regular positions.

The company says anyone interested in one of the seasonal jobs should apply now. Returning members of the military and veterans are especially encouraged to apply.

In order to apply for jobs in our area, job candidates should visit Home Depot's website . They should select "In-Store Hourly" from the drop down menu and then enter Detroit and click "Search."

Keep in mind, however, that available positions vary by store.
