(WXYZ) - Jurors deciding the face of Jeffrey Pyne, charged with killing his own mother, will have a long holiday weekend to ponder testimony.

It was May of last year that 51-year-old Ruth Pyne was found beaten and stabbed to death in the corner of the garage at their home in Highland Township.

She was bipolar and had a history of attacking her kids when she was off her medicine.

Investigators found the house clean with no blood inside or outside, no forced entry and nothing stolen.

If convicted as charged, Jeffery Pyne faces life without parole,

His defense attorney told the jury in opening statements they have the wrong person.
