DETROIT(WXYZ) -

A movie filmed at more than 50 Michigan locations will premiere tonight at local theaters.

Michigan native Robert Cicchini directed the film and also has a starring role.

"Waterwalk" is about a journey on the water that unites a workaholic father and his 17-year-old son.

In the movie, Steve Faulkner has just been laid off when his son Justin convinces him to brave tough waters and tag along on a thousand mile journey ending in Mississippi.

Over the course of the trip, the two learn they don't have much in common but they grow closer from the experience.

Robert Cicchini will be on hand to introduce to the film today at Birmingham 8 theater. That event begins at 7.

The movie will also premiere at Canton Emagine theater tonight at 7.
