Detroit (WXYZ) - Two Detroit Police officers opened fire and killed a man who, according to the Police Chief, was pointing a gun at them and would not drop it.

The shooting happened Merton in the hallway of an apartment building.

The Police Chief says officers were at the apartment as part of their investigation into the shooting of two teens outside Mumford High School Tuesday afternoon. The chief says he does not believe the man who was killed is connected to the high school shooting although he says everything is under investigation right now.

Police say they know who the Mumford shooter is and they are searching for him right now.
