(WXYZ) - Detroit’s former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will learn his fate on Thursday when U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds will sentence him on racketeering and other corruption charges.
He is facing decades behind bars after a jury convicted him in March. Coincidentally, on the same day Kilpatrick will be sentenced, a tell-all article by his former lover and chief of staff Christine Beatty will run in the November issue of Essence Magazine.
Kilpatrick’s “sext” messages with Beatty, and the federal corruption case, are major scandals (perhaps the biggest) that rocked the region.
With the big day looming, we thought we’d revisit some of those salacious texts that got Kilpatrick and Beatty booted from office and put them both behind bars. Here they are:
