DETROIT (WXYZ) - The U.S. Attorney's office will soon be handing over “extensive” records as part of the discovery process in Kwame Kilpatrick’s tax and fraud indictment.
According to an order signed by Judge Nancy Edmunds, federal prosecutors will be providing Kilpatrick’s lawyer, Jim Thomas, with grand jury transcripts, intercepted phone conversations, as well as audio and video recordings of conversations.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys will also hand over text messages, personal and corporate bank records, reports of witness interviews, and federal tax return information.
As part of the discovery agreement, Thomas and Kilpatrick cannot share the material with anyone, and they have to give it all back to the government after the trial.
