Detroit (WXYZ) - The prime contractor at Detroit City Airport, Signature, will be replaced by a new group October 1st. The company, Signature provided fuel and important services to pilots and passengers.
An Action News Investigation led to the resignation of Delbert Brown, the director at the Coleman Young airport. Now Terrence King, Mayor Dave Bing's Transportation Executive, will take the reigns.
Our investigation found tennis courts built in hangars, old equipment reduced to rusty scrap, oil and chemical contaminants, dilapidated hangars and storage units, and disgruntled workers and customers.
It's not clear if further investigation of Brown's mismanagement will follow his resignation. A city audit found a list of accounting discrepancies and possible missing money in excess of a $100,000.
"Obviously there are some federal dollars that we can apply for, but I think we have to have a solid plan, as to exactly what we're gonna do, and how we're gonna turn around and do that," Terrence King told Action News.
