(WXYZ) - A new study from the Center for Disease Control says the majority of public pools are contaminated with E.Coli.
Researchers tested samples of filtered water from last year's swim season and found 58% were contaminated.
They say the bacteria which is normally found in feces and the human gut, is either coming from "fecal incidents" or from swimmers failing to wash feces off their bodies before entering the pool.
The CDC says people should avoid swallowing pool water and should take pre-swim showers to keep germs out.
