SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - Dog lovers may become unleashed!   The 136 th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will begin today at Madison Square Garden with six new breeds in the mix.

One is the Xoloitzcuintli – a trembling, little exotic breed commonly known as a Mexican hairless.

But how in the world do you pronounce this???

Repeat after me:  “show-low-eats-QUEEN-tlee”

There’s also the Entlebucher (ENT-lay-boo-kur) Mountain Dog, the Norwegian Lundehund (loon-deh-hond) and the Cesky (CHESS-key) terrier along with the Finnish Lapphund (Lap-hond).

Oh, yes!   We can’t forget the American English Coonhound.   That one was pretty easy to say.

As for the other five new breeds, the producers of Action News This Morning were kind enough to provide the anchors with helpful pronunciation guides.  Whew!

Tuesday night will be the selection for Best in Show.

We’ll see which contestant nabs the spot for top dog.

I think I’m rooting for the Xoloitzcuintli…just because I like saying the breed’s name.
