(WXYZ) - Pepsi is hoping the "King of Pop" can make their brand the king of pop. Pepsi has worked out a deal with the Michael Jackson estate that will have the late singer starring in a new ad campaign.
Pepsi will feature a silhouette of Jackson on 1 billion special edition cans. The company will also use special remixes of the superstar's songs. The blitzĀ will include television spots, contests and downloads for customers.
The ad campaign marks the 25th anniversary of Jackson's "Bad" tour, which Pepsi also sponsored.
Pepsico has a long history with Michael Jackson. During the taping of a Pepsi commercial, in 1984, the singer's hair accidentally caught fire. Jackson later blamed the painful burns to his scalp for leading to his addiction to painkillers.
