(WXYZ) - If you are traveling to Las Vegas, you may find a little taste of the "D" in Sin City. The Fitzgeralds Casino is being renamed D Las Vegas. According to the new owner, the D stands for downtown. However, Derek Stevens also says it is a tribute to his hometown of Detroit. Fitzgeralds is located in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont street.

According to a statement, Stevens is spending $15 million to revamp the current hotel and casino.  Stevens also owns a majority in the nearby Golden Gate Casino. Fitzgeralds was previously owned by Don Barden, the first black casino owner in Las Vegas, who called Detroit home for decades.
