Men face prison time for allegedly hunting in a residential area in Warren

(WXYZ) - Two men are facing prison time after police say they were seen deer hunting in a residential area in Warren.

Myles Ehret, 19, of Royal Oak and 27-year-old William Frances of Riverview were each arraigned on an animal cruelty charge on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the pair was spotted by several neighbors with a bow and arrow near Jenny and Knapp.

Tyler Sittaro, 11, was playing in the area when he saw the two men.

“I saw a truck with two guys pulling a deer on a sled coming out…looked like 5- pointer,” said Sittaro.

After police were called by several outraged neighbors, investigators tracked the suspects down to a home in Riverview.  Officers say that’s where they found a 5-point buck.

Neighbors say there are a lot of deer in the area.

Warren Mayor Jim Fouts tells 7 Action News, the men discovered the area through a Website that lists Warren as a great place to hunt.

Mayor Fouts said he wants to make an example out of the two men.

"Anybody who is going to decide to use Warren as a place to hunt--I want a strong deterrent, and that deterrent would be, simply put: you're going to go to jail," said Mayor Fouts. 

Neighbors say that a lot of children play in the area and the thought of someone getting hurt is unbearable. 

Ehret and Frances are due back in court on January 8 at 1:30 p.m.
