More than a thousand nurses at the University of Michigan Health System picketed in Ann Arbor Saturday. They accuse UMHS of unfair labor practices.

The two sides disagree on health-care benefits, paid time off, and pension. Nurses claim patient care will decline as a result of the proposed changes. The UMHS says patient care is a priority, and that that claim isn’t true.

Both sides have met dozens of times without coming to a solution since the nurses’ contract expired June 30th.

The nurses and management are scheduled to return to the bargaining table this week.
