MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - Emotional family members of murdered MSU student Andrew Michael Singler returned to his apartment Sunday to get clothes for his funeral.

Singler, just 23, was stabbed to death in his apartment in the 6200-block of Rothbury Way in Meridian Township early Saturday morning.

His mother tells Action News the suspect in custody is the brother of Andrew’s girlfriend. Police have not yet identified the man.

It’s not clear what led up to the argument but Andrew’s mother told Action News she cannot fathom how anyone would make such a horrific choice.

On Twitter Andrew’s friends flooded the social networking site with messages of love and sadness. One friend wrote “the world needed more people like you, not less… I love you.”

The murder suspect is in custody and will be arraigned early this week, according to Meridian Township Police.
