WESTLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) - It was a messy mix of fun for hundreds of kids who got to participate in Michigan's Annual Mud Day.
Two-hundred tons of topsoil was mixed with more than 20,000 gallons of water to create the muddy pool at Hines Park-Nankin Mills in Westland.
Mud Day was open to children 12 years and younger, and they were put into age categories for special games such as “Mud Limbo” and wheel barrow races. King and Queen Mud were also crowned.
A clean-up area was set up on-site along. The Westland Fire Department contributed hoses to add for rinsing.
Sponsors for the events included ITC Holdings, Community Alliance Credit Union and Western Wayne County HMRT.
