SAN DIEGO (AP) - A lawyer representing family members of the suspect in the Colorado mass shooting says their hearts go out to the victims and their families.
Lisa Damiani met reporters Monday in San Diego.
She's representing the family of 24-year-old James Holmes, who made his first court appearance Monday in a
Denver suburb where he's being held without bond.
When asked if James Holmes' family stands by him, Lisa Damiani told reporters Monday in San Diego: "Yes they do. He's their son."Damiani refused to answer questions about Holmes and his relationship to the family.
Holmes grew up in California, and got a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California-Riverside before enrolling in a graduate program at the University of Colorado
He was in the process of withdrawing from that graduate program at the time of the shooting.
