FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a Washington state man and are sweeping his apartment complex for explosives after emailed threats were made against President Barack Obama.

Emily Langlie, a spokeswoman for the Seattle U.S. attorney's office, says the suspect was armed but was taken into custody without incident in the south suburb of Federal Way on Tuesday afternoon. He is scheduled to appear in federal court Wednesday.

The man's name was not immediately released. He has not been charged.

Langlie said the threats had been sent to a general government email address.
