ROYAL OAK, Mich (WXYZ) - Former Oakland County Prosecutor Dave Gorcyca says he knows the prosecutors in the Casey Anthony case feel like they failed the family and little Caylee.
He also says he would bet money that the jurors think Casey Anthony did kill her little girl but did not feel prosecutors proved it beyond a reasonable doubt.
Gorcyca says the case was circumstantial and he thinks one of the biggest hurdles was that while the medical examiner said it was a homicide, no actual cause of death was found. Because of that the jurors did not know if the two-year-old drowned as the defense maintained or was suffocated.
He says he and other lawyers in his office watched the verdict come down and were surprised but not shocked because of what the prosecution has to work with.
Finally he says no matter what jurors thought about the mom and her behavior, they can only rule on the evidence they hear in court.
