DETROIT(WXYZ) - Navy ships and visiting sailors will visit in Detroit for Navy Week, commemorating the 200-year anniversary of the War of 1812.

Many family friendly events have been planned including tours of various Navy ships, Concerts given by the Navy band, a festival at the Renaissance center, and sailor visits to local schools.

Governor Rick Snyder and Mayor Dave Bing will officially welcome Navy officers and sailors on Wednesday at noon, at the Renaissance Center.
