WXYZ-TV - DETROIT 2020 LAUNCH

Delivered By  Ed Fernandez, Vice President & General Manager

For the past few weeks, you’ve heard us say three simple but powerful words: Unify, Inspire, Act!

That’s the motto for Detroit 2020, our new effort designed to move Detroit forward. And the beginning of the New Year seems like the perfect time to launch a bold and ambitious program to provide a vision for Southeast Michigan.

Our hope and goal is to significantly improve the economic, social, and mental well being of Metro Detroit by 2020. To do that we’ll bring people together, challenge and inspire our leaders, debate the issues, and help find solutions to the problems we face.

But it’s not designed to just make us feel good. We won’t be afraid to take on big issues like education, transportation, and race. Our intention is to shine a bright light on what’s working, what’s not working, and why.

Detroit 2020 will begin in our newscasts and on the web. But this effort is your effort. We need your thoughts and ideas on the people, places, and issues that matter to you. And you can do that through our new website: Detroit2020.com.

I believe the best is yet to come.

It’s now time to Unify, Inspire, and Act!

It’s time for Detroit 2020.

Broadcast: January 3- 5, 2011
