(WXYZ) - The Detroit Pistons announced on Thursday that they have relieved Lawrence Frank of his coaching duties.
In a statement released today, Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars said:
“We thank Lawrence for his hard work and dedication, but we feel it is in the best interest of the franchise to make a change at this time. Decisions like this are never easy and we wish Lawrence well in the future.”
Frank was named head coach in 2011 and led the team to a cumulative record of 54-94 in two seasons at the helm.
"I'd say I expected better results. I met with Joe and Lawrence (on Sunday) and let them know that," team owner Tom Gores said Monday night before the Pistons' home finale. "They are great guys that know their business, but I'm here assessing everything. My job is to move this franchise forward."
