(WXYZ) - He is a student who didn’t just succeed, he helped others succeed.
Now, 17-year-old Balaal Hollings is in the hospital recovering after being shot in the head.
Nuballa Hollings is proud of her brother Balaal. And she should be – after their mother died 2 years ago, the 26-year-old took care of him and helped him succeed.
He was homecoming king, student council president, senior class president, a star on the football field and in classes at Northwestern High School.
He just got back from a tour of colleges on April 6. Nuballa says that night he went to a party .
Someone got into a fight at that party at a home near Manor and 6 Mile in Detroit.
Nuballa says her brother tried to break it up and he was shot in the head. Two weeks later – he amazingly is alive – but facing a long rehabilitation.
So far no one has been arrested. If you know anything about this incident, please call Detroit Police.
