SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) -
Incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow is facing Republican Pete Hoekstra in the race for U.S. Senate
Stabenow says the economy is at the center of her campaign.
On healthcare, Stabenow says the Affordable Care Act moves the country in the right direction, toward the idea that health care is a right, not a privilege.
"We need to continue to focus on prevention, the most expensive part of the Heath System is paying for folks in the ER without health insurance. Everyone's rates go up because of it. Everyone should be able to see a doctor and have the opportunity to prevent illness," said Senator Stabenow.
