SOUTHFIELD (WXYZ) - John Dingell has represented Michigan since 1955 as a U.S. Congressman, but he says he has unfinished business and is running for a 30 th term.
If re-elected, his number one priority would remain job creation. He supported the bailout of the auto industries, and says bringing the automakers back to strength is necessary for Michigan.
Throughout his nearly 58 years in Congress, Dingell has helped passed landmark legislation including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which he says he is most proud of. He has also penned comprehensive laws, including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
Despite the admittedly slow progress in Washington D.C., Dingell hopes another term will allow for reconciliation on Capitol Hill and bring new compromises.
