John Conyers wins Democratic primary in 13th Congressional District

(WXYZ) - Congressman John Conyers, Jr. has won the Democratic primary in the reshaped 13th U.S. Congressional District.

The congressman, often called the “liberal lion” of the House of Representatives, surpassed four other candidates in the primary election race.

Conyers will face Republican Harry Sawicki of Dearborn Heights in the November.
