Gary Peters wins Democratic primary in reshaped 14th Congressional District

(WXYZ) - Gary Peters wins the Democratic primary in the newly redrawn 14 ^th Congressional District. It was a heated contest where Peters and Hansen Clarke were pitted against each other.

Also in the mix were Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence, former State Representative Mary Waters, and retired 36 ^th District Court Magistrate Bob Costello on the Democratic side.  

The new 14 ^th stretches from Detroit to Pontiac with Harper Woods, Southfield, and West Bloomfield Township in between. 

Peters will face John Hauler on the November ballot.
