(WXYZ) - If Michigan’s economy has an effect on who wins and loses next Tuesday, it could bode well for political incumbents.
Our exclusive WXYZ/Detroit Free Press poll conducted by EPIC MRA shows that likely voters think Michigan’s economy has seen its worse and is rebounding.
A sample of 600 active and likely Michigan voters were polled statewide between October 26 and October 29. They were asked:
Thinking about the economy in Michigan, do you believe the economy in Michigan:
-62% Has already bottomed out and is starting to improve
-21% Is at the bottom but is not yet getting any better
-13% Has not yet bottomed out and will still get worse
Across political party lines, a plurality of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents think Michigan’s economy is improving. President Barack Obama, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Governor Rick Snyder may get the lion's share of credit for Michigan’s economic climate looking up.
The margin for error in this poll is + 4.0%. Cell phone participation accounted for 20%.
