(NEWSNET5.COM) - Need to let off a little steam at the start of the week?

Maybe you should try popping some bubble wrap, a known stress reliever. After all, Monday, Jan. 31, is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day.

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day was started by an Indiana radio station in 2001.

According to the Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day website , the product was first made in 1957, as two engineers were trying to make a plastic wallpaper with a paper backing.

That product didn’t take off, but a few years later they started using the design as a cushioning material for packaging, The rest, they say, is history.

There's also a large selection of bubble wrap apps for your smart phone or tablet if you don't have time to go out and buy a sheet.
