DETROIT (WXYZ) - Sometime before 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning a pregnant young woman was found near a dumpster on west Fort a mere two blocks from the 4th precinct in southwest Detroit. She had been shot in the side.
Police say moments earlier the 21-year-old was picked up by by a man in dark-colored vehicle and taken behind a business on Fort street and shot when she refused to have sex with him.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 55-year-old man was taken into police custody in connection with the incident.
Police say the man was apprehended in Brownstown.
The woman who was shot is recovering at Detroit Receiving Hospital where she was listed in temporary serious condition. The condition of her baby has not been released.
