CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Miss. (WXYZ) - A massive alligator was caught in Mississippi, tipping the scale at 741.5 pounds and breaking the state record for weight.
It also tied the record for longest alligator caught at 13 feet, 6.5 inches.
It was captured near where Bayou Pierre empties into the Mississippi River.
The crew who caught it said they used treble hooks and five lines to bring him in.
It took seven people and more than an hour of fighting to finally get the alligator to land.
It's the third alligator caught in the past week that weighed more than 700 pounds.
