DETROIT (WXYZ) - Thanks to a new online mapping tool, Detroit residents can now see whether an unsafe structure near their own home is slated for demolition.
The City of Detroit Buildings, Safety Engineering & Environmental Department (BSEED) has posted the map on its website here: http://bit.ly/DetroitDemolitionMap
Buildings are tagged into three different categories: approved, in the process, or completed.
BSEED told 7 Action News the amount of structures slated to be destroyed exceeds the amount of money they have for demolition projects.
They currently receive their funding through grants.
BSEED said they will aggressively continue demolition on projects and seek ways to get more money for future projects through both grants and donations.
