DETROIT (WXYZ) - The jury in the trial against Detroit Police Officer Joseph Weekley says they cannot reach a unanimous verdict. A judge has ordered that they continue deliberating to try and come to a verdict.
Weekley is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in the death of 7-year-old Aiyana Jones during a raid on her family's home in 2010. Aiyana was shot during the raid, which was caught on tape by crews filming for the reality show "The First 48."
Jurors must now decide whose story they believe: Weekley or Aiyana's grandmother.
Weekley admits he shot Aiyana, but says her grandmother hit his gun, causing him to pull the trigger.
Aiyana's grandmother says she was not near the gun when the shot was fired.
