DETROIT (WXYZ) - Kwame Kilpatrick is asking for a new trial.
Kilpatrick says his lawyer, Jim Thomas should not have represented him in the corruption trial due to a conflict of interest.
Kilpatrick made the argument during the trial but Judge Nancy Edmunds rejected it.
Now Detroit's ex-mayor is restating the objection.
Kilpatrick is in federal prison awaiting sentencing in the federal corruption case. He was found guilty on 24 charges in March including Racketeering and Extorsion.
