Police: Woman, 72, shot during break-in at home

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police say a 72-year-old woman has been wounded by a gunman who broke into her home.

Police say the woman was listed in temporary serious condition after being shot in the body about 5 a.m. Friday at the home on the city's west side.

Officers followed footprints in the fresh snow to a vacant house, where they caught a 23-year-old man and recovered a weapon.

The suspect was held as police investigated.
