A huge Christian prayer event scheduled for next week at Ford Field has some local Muslims worried

DETROIT (WXYZ) - It is called "The Call" and it's scheduled for 11-11-11 at Ford Field, but at least one local Muslim leader is worried enough about it to send out alerts to local mosques.

Dawud Walid of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says the promoters of the event are sending out anti-Islamic messages, talking about driving stakes into the ground at local Mosques to send the demons away and Walid says that is disturbing and ridiculous.

One of the promoters can be heard on the internet saying some people are talking about making Michigan the first Islamic state and that Muslims are "in your face everywhere."

Walid is also concerned because some well known local pastors and bishops are planning to attend and he wonders out loud if they don't know what's behind the event.

Bishop Edgar Vann from the Second Ebenezer Church says he believes this is a prayer event to uplift and strengthen Detroiters and if it is anything but that, he wouldn't be part of it. "We need to build bridges and not walls" he says.  Bishop Vann says he wouldn't be part of anything divisive. 

Walid says he isn't saying the event should be cancelled, he just hopes it is filled with the right kinds of prayers.
