DETROIT (WXYZ) - Angelica Robinson, the alleged mistress, says her affair with Chief Godbee began in 2011 while Godbee was at Police Week. Robinson says they exchanged messages on Facebook, starting meeting up for brunch and other outings. The meetings turned romantic - Robinson claims they started "hooking up."

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has suspended Police Chief Ralph Godbee  for 30 days on the heels of the 7 Action News Investigators breaking a story about the sex scandal brewing around Detroit's top cop.

Bing released the following statement just a short time ago:

"After learning of the allegations regarding Chief Ralph Godbee , I have placed him on a 30-day suspension pending a full and thorough investigation of this matter.  In the interim, Assistant Chief Chester Logan will assume the duties and responsibilities of police chief."

Chief Godbee has been suspended with pay. He is accused of having relationships with Robinson, a Detroit Police officer, and another woman who does not work for the department.

Robinson says she ended the relationship because Godbee was lying to her and having trysts with other women. She says she tried to break it off altogether but that Godbee wanted to begin a new friendship, asking Robinson to rebuild their relationship from the ground up.

Robinson says she's sorry for what she did to Godbee's wife and daughter and that she's going to focus on her marriage and repairing the damage she's done to her family.
